AET services - How can we help?

We offer a range of estate planning services to help you secure your family's future.

Depending on the level of service you require and your needs, we offer the following range of services:

  • Personalised Will preparation
  • Powers of attorney
  • Assistance for executors in administering an estate
  • Trustee services, including compensation trusts and charitable trusts

All of our services can be offered in consultation with your financial adviser, or you can access these services by calling us on 1800 145 742 Monday to Friday 8.30am - 5.00pm ACST.

Personalised Will preparation

The cornerstone of estate planning is a valid and up-to-date Will. However, a Will generally only deals with the distribution of assets personally owned by you.

If you have more complex estate planning needs you should seek the advice of one of our estate planning specialists, who will assist you in preparing a Will to meet your circumstances. As part of this service you will have an obligation-free one hour consultation. During the meeting the estate planning specialist will identify your estate planning requirements and will provide a fixed quote to prepare your Will.

They will discuss your financial affairs and family situation.

Depending on your circumstances, our estate planning specialist may recommend the preparation of an estate plan that will identify your issues and concerns in writing. It will also provide personalised strategies for you to consider before you provide final instructions for your Will.

An estate plan will consider issues such as tax minimisation for beneficiaries or asset protection for beneficiaries as a result of:

  • divorce
  • bankruptcy
  • superannuation strategies
  • potential claims on your estate
  • provision for beneficiaries as a result of second or subsequent marriages.

One of our estate planning specialists can help you prepare your Will and estate plan.

Powers of attorney

Have you ever wondered what would happen if you became incapacitated from an accident, injury or illness? Who would make financial and medical decisions on your behalf if you were unable to?

Preparing for the management of your financial affairs if you were to become unexpectedly incapacitated from an accident or illness is very important. Without such preparation the government may intervene on your behalf.

We can prepare documents that appoint trusted family members or friends as your attorney. Or, depending on the circumstances, it may be that we are the best choice to act as attorney. We can explain all the options available and then the choice is up to you.

We can also develop medical powers of attorney, where a trusted person is appointed to make important medical and life decisions on your behalf if you are affected by accident or illness.

How does an enduring power of attorney differ from a general power of attorney?

A general power of attorney ceases to have effect after you lose the mental capacity to make financial decisions. An enduring power of attorney will continue to have effect whatever your mental capacity.

Assistance for executors

  • Estate administration

Every Will requires the appointment of an executor, a person or trustee company you choose to carry out the terms of your Will.

We have built a reputation for offering an accurate and efficient estate administration service.

Our experience in administering complex estates and trusts is matched by our reputation for the ongoing personal attention we devote to each estate we administer.

Our estate administration services include:

  • Executor support: which provides assistance to 'private' executors (family members or friends) in the administration of an estate. Or where there is no Will, assistance to the person entitled to administer the estate.
  • Executor appointments: where clients appoint Australian Executor Trustees as an executor, either solely or in conjunction with other individuals.
