Powers of Attorney

Have you ever wondered what would happen if you became incapacitated from an accident, injury or illness? Who would make financial and medical decisions on your behalf if you were unable to?

Preparing for the management of your financial affairs if you were to become unexpectedly incapacitated from an accident or illness is very important. Without such preparation the government may intervene on your behalf.

We can prepare documents that appoint trusted family members or friends as your Attorney. Or, depending on the circumstances, it may be that we are the best choice to act as Attorney. We can explain all the options available and then the choice is up to you.

We can also develop Medical Powers of Attorney, where a trusted person is appointed to make important medical and life decisions on your behalf if you are affected by accident or illness.

How does an Enduring Power of Attorney differ from a general Power of Attorney?

A general Power of Attorney ceases to have effect after you lose the mental capacity to make financial decisions. An Enduring Power of Attorney will continue to have effect whatever your mental capacity.
